Ako pripraviť pleť pred LED maskou — kompletný návod pre maximálne výsledky

How to prepare the skin before the LED mask - complete instructions for maximum results

The LED face mask is one of the most effective home beauty devices - but only if you know how to use it properly. Preparing your skin before each session is not optional - it's the step that decides whether you'll see results after 2 weeks or after 2 months.

This guide will show you exactly what to do before each LED face mask session, what to avoid, and why it matters scientifically.

Why is skin preparation before an LED mask important?

The red light penetrates the skin to a depth of 3-5mm where it stimulates fibroblasts - the cells responsible for collagen production. Blue light works on the surface and destroys acne-causing bacteria.

The problem occurs when there is a layer of make-up, sunscreen or heavy moisturiser on the skin. These products act as a filter - they reflect some of the light before it penetrates the skin. The result is the same as shining a flashlight through a thick cloth - the light is scattered and loses its power.

Clear skin with no obstructions = light penetrates fully = better results.

Step 1 - Thorough cleansing of the skin

Cleaning is the most important step of preparation. Remove everything - makeup, sunscreen, serum, cream. The skin must be absolutely clean.

What to use for cleaning before the LED face mask:

Micellar water - ideal for gently removing make-up. It will not dry out the skin and will not disturb the natural pH.

Gentle cleansing gel or foam - removes impurities and excess sebum. Choose without aggressive surfactants (SLS, SLES).

Two-step cleansing - for women who wear make-up with SPF. First make-up remover oil, then aqueous cleansing gel.

What to avoid when cleansing - alcohol toners and harsh exfoliating cleansing gels right before the session. They dry out the skin and reduce the ability of cells to absorb light.

Tip: Also cleanse the neck and décolletage area if you plan to use the LED mask on these areas as well.

Step 2 - Exfoliate - yes, but not right before the session

Exfoliation removes the layer of dead skin cells that block light penetration. Regular exfoliation increases the effectiveness of LED therapy - but there is one rule.

Never exfoliate immediately before an LED session. Freshly exfoliated skin is more sensitive and the intense light can cause irritation.

Good practice:

Exfoliate 24-48 hours before your scheduled LED session.

Enzymatic peel - a gentle option suitable for sensitive skin. Use 1-2 times a week.

Chemical peel with AHA or BHA acids - more effective, suitable for skin accustomed to acids. Use 1× a week.

Physical exfoliation (scrub) - the least recommended option for regular exfoliation before LED therapy. May irritate the capillary network.

Step 3 - Serum before LED mask - what works and what doesn't

This is the step where most women make a mistake. Some serums multiply the effectiveness of the LED mask, others block it.

Serums that increase the effectiveness of LED therapy:

Hyaluronic acid - hydrates the skin and creates an optimal environment for cell regeneration. Apply to slightly damp skin for better absorption.

Peptides - directly promote collagen production, which is the same mechanism as red light. The combination of peptides and LED therapy gives a synergistic effect.

Niacinamide (vitamin B3) - unifies skin tone, reduces pores and strengthens the skin barrier. Combines well with red light.

Vitamin C (stable forms) - antioxidant which protects newly formed collagen from oxidative stress.

Serums to be applied AFTER the session, not before:

Retinol and retinoid preparations - increase the photosensitivity of the skin. Use in the evening after an LED session, not before.

High concentrations of AHA and BHA acids - same reason as retinol. After the session, not before.

Step 4 - Skin temperature and environment

A lesser known but important factor. Warm skin has better microcirculation and cells absorb light energy better.

Ideal preparation: a short warm shower or washing your face with warm water 10 minutes before the session. The skin will be slightly more vascular and receptive.

Avoid cold water just before the session - use cold water after the session to close the pores.

Step 5 - Last check before putting the mask on

Check before each session:

Skin is clean and dry - no product residue.

Serum is absorbed - wait 1-2 minutes after serum application.

Eye shields are on - LED light is safe but intense. Eye protection is included LumenLuxe masks.

Straps are adjusted correctly - mask must fit snugly to the face. Gap between mask and skin reduces effectiveness.

What to do after a session with the LED face mask

Preparation before the session is important - but so is aftercare.

Immediately after the session, the skin is optimally prepared for the absorption of the active substances. Take advantage of this:

Apply a moisturising serum or cream - the skin absorbs it more effectively than ever.

Now is the time for retinol or AHA acids if you use them.

Avoid direct sun for 30 minutes after your session - skin is slightly more sensitive.

How often to use an LED face mask

The optimal frequency for visible results is 3-5 times per week, 10 minutes per session. You can use the mask daily without risk - LED light has no cumulative negative effects when used properly.

The first results - improved hydration and skin radiance - are visible after 2 weeks. More noticeable changes on wrinkles and acne occur after 4-8 weeks of regular use.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use the LED mask in the morning and evening? Yes, LED therapy is safe to use at any time of the day. Most women prefer an evening session as part of a relaxation routine.

Do I need to wash my face before each session even if I don't wear makeup? Yes. During the day, sebum, dust and dirt build up on the skin which blocks out the light. Cleansing before each session is essential.

Can I use an LED mask if I have sensitive skin? Yes, LED therapy is gentle even for sensitive skin. Start with shorter sessions - 5 minutes - and gradually increase to 10 minutes.

What if I don't have a serum, can I just use a moisturizer? A light moisturizer is fine. Avoid only heavy, oily textures that create a barrier on the skin's surface.

Is the LED face mask safe for pregnancy? Out of an abundance of caution, we do not recommend use during pregnancy - not because of any proven risk, but because of the lack of clinical studies on pregnant women.
